Our new Veggie garden

With the help of our amazing ‘Granny Jani’ (Heath Howard’s Granny Janet), we are building a wonderful big vegetable garden for our children.

Janet with our handyman Derek constructed the framework with walkways for the children so that they can weed and water.  The topsoil, river sand and compost all from Janet’s small holding, is now in and we are ready for planting.  This is all covered by shadecloth to keep the monkeys away. Please take a walk and have a look.

We thank Janet for giving us her time and expertise, we appreciate it very much!

Just look at our healthy lettuces!

The pictures below show Sophie waiting patiently to get some compost, Bradley digging for some compost, and Granny Jani telling the children about the “strawberry tower” they are going to build.

Teresa made us a stunning Little Red Hen Veggie Patch cake complete with carrots, cauliflowers and lettuce. Then the Grade R children found it and harvested most of the vegetables!
